All domain names registered with Økisnavn automatically receive DNSSEC.

  2. Select “DNS records”
  3. Create a DNS record
Click on the “Create DNS record” button.
Select the DNS type (e.g., A, CNAME, TXT, etc.).

  4. Click “Save” to save the record

Update an existing record:
Select the pencil icon next to the record you want to edit.

Select the trash can icon next to the record you want to delete.

What are the different types of DNS records?

Here is a brief explanation of the different types of DNS records:

  • A (Address):
A links a domain name (hostname) to an IPv4 address. It is the most common DNS record.
  • AAAA (IPv6 Address):
AAAA links a domain name to an IPv6 address, which is the new standard for IP addresses.
  • CAA (Certification Authority Authorization):
CAA allows the owner of a domain to specify which certificate authorities (CAs) are allowed to issue SSL/TLS certificates for that domain.
  • CNAME (Canonical Name):
CNAME redirects a domain name to another domain name. It is often used for aliases, where multiple names need to point to the same address.
  • MX (Mail Exchange):
MX points to servers that handle email for a specific domain. It defines which mail servers should be used to send and receive email.
  • PTR (Pointer):
PTR is used for reverse DNS lookup, where an IP address is linked to a domain name.
  • SRV (Service):
SRV points to servers that provide specific services, such as VoIP or IMAP. It specifies the hostname and port number for services.
  • TXT (Text):
TXT allows the owner of a domain to add text strings to DNS, which are often used for domain ownership verification, security, and various other information.
How do I change name servers?

Name servers (DNS servers) are servers that translate your internet address (domain name) into an IP address that can be read by computers and networks. This is necessary to find and use websites on the internet.

  1. Go to the domain name
  2. Select Name Servers
Click on “Name Servers” to see the current name servers associated with your website.
  3. Manage name servers
    You have two options:
Use Økisnavn name servers: This is the default option, where Økisnavn’s name servers are used.
Use custom name servers: If you choose to use other name servers, you must enter them here.
  4. Save changes
Click Save to save the changes, or Cancel to discard the changes.

Note: If you choose not to use Økisnavn’s name servers, you will not be able to manage DNS records within Økisnavn.

What is TTL?

TTL (Time to Live) is a measure of how long a DNS record should be stored in a DNS cache on a server before it is updated. This is the time it takes for changes in DNS records to become visible on the internet.

  • Low TTL: Changes in DNS records become visible faster.
  • High TTL: Changes in DNS records take longer to become visible.

What is automatic renewal?

Automatic renewal allows the system to renew your domain name when it is nearing expiration. The system will automatically charge the payment method linked to the domain name.

You must have an active payment method linked to your domain to enable automatic renewal.
